These pianos are usually out of the range of the hobbyists budget, but for the professional pianist who records their own music, this piano is an ideal option. There are baby grand pianos and concert grand pianos available. The volume and tone of the strings is excellent.Generally speaking, the other type of piano is the grand piano. Replacing individual strings is not preferred because the age and tension difference affects the tone, timber and quality of the sound you want to keep a matched set. Piano strings do not require frequent replacement at all.
Piano strings are unlike guitar or orchestra stringed instruments that require frequent replacement. For the bass notes, Currier used two wires, while the higher notes they use three. More than one wire is used to produce each note. The threads will need to be re-tapped a larger size and refitted with a new screw. It is safe to play and I have deferred this repair. The front right leg still supports the piano without wobble or any perceivable movement. All legs are strudy and fitted properly except for the front right leg. The case is supported by 2 legs that screw into the bottom of the case’s front edge corners. If you help me load it, I can secure it to the bed and deliver it (within a reasonable distance 100 miles). Its in great condition for its age it has been kept inside for it’s entire life. You can tune it yourself if you know what your doing. I have tuned it myself over the years (tuning equipment included). It needs tuning which costs around $75- $125.

This particular model is an antique Currier upright piano, model number 32W, serial number 82442. The finish on the piano is still immaculate! This finish helps preserve the value of Currier pianos. Curriercote was a cellulose acetate butyrate formulation designed to form a tough barrier protecting Currier pianos from scratches, water damage and cigarette burns. “Curriercote” was developed through a partnership between the former president of Currier and Eastman Chemical Products. trademark for a breakthrough protective finish for its hardwood pianos. It was at the North Carolina plant that Currier expanded its production to include deluxe console uprights and a line of grand pianos, in addition for its regular spinet and console production.
Currier also credited its mountain craftsmen with a keen attention to detail. The mountain location offered an abundant supply of hardwood and fruitwood trees from which the pianos were constructed. During its more than 150 years in business, Currier produced numerous piano models.Ĭurrier produced its modern pianos at a 90,000-square-foot manufacturing plant in North Carolina. American presidents John Quincy Adams and John Adams owned Currier pianos. My family bought the piano new in 1978 for $1078. This piano is manufactured by Currier & Company, which was founded by Ebenezer Bronson Currier in 1823. I want to see the piano go to a good home.
